NewsUEFA commends Liverpool and Everton for joint stance against racism
Both clubs released a joint statement denouncing the abuse, reaffirming their unified stance against all forms of discrimination, and clearly stating that racism and hate have no place online, in our stadiums or in our communities.
The UEFA FootbALL Awards celebrate organisations that harness the power of football to drive positive change. Taking place in Zurich during the UEFA Respect Forum, the ceremony honours outstanding contributions to diversity, inclusion and accessibility within European football.
Rishi Jain, director of impact at LFC, who accepted the award in Switzerland alongside Ben Osu, Everton’s head of equity and inclusion, said: “We are proud to have worked alongside Everton Football Club in condemning the racist abuse directed at Abdoulaye Doucoure. This award highlights our dedication to championing diversity, inclusion and accessibility, and using our platform to drive meaningful and lasting change.
“Liverpool Football Club upholds a zero-tolerance stance on all forms of discrimination and remains committed to taking decisive action wherever necessary.”
This season marks five years since the launch of Red Together, which is LFC’s ongoing commitment to championing equality, diversity and inclusion.
Red Together is at the heart of everything that we do as a club to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. It is also a key part of The Red Way, the club’s sustainability strategy, helping to create a better future for our people, planet and communities. Learn more here.
