NewsU21s reaction: Comeback v Leeds, Figueroa form, Morrison influence and more

Having gone 1-0 down to a first-half penalty, the young Reds fought back after the break to take all three points.

Keyrol Figueroa came off the bench to level with his 11th goal of the season in the division before Kieran Morrison completed the turnaround with a stoppage-time spot-kick.

Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni and Calvin Ramsay were among the starters for Page's side at the Kirkby Academy.

On his team battling and getting their rewards with the last kick of the game…

We did, yes. We made it hard for ourselves with the start we made after 10 minutes, conceding a penalty, so credit to them. We had to change the press slightly at half-time because I wanted us to be a bit more aggressive with the ball. I thought we controlled the game in the first half. I just wanted us to keep doing what we were doing and we knew the chances would come eventually.

On Ngumoha entertaining during his 45-minute run-out…

When you get the call that you are having Rio, Trey and Rambo [Ramsay], it's quite nice. It was also a hard one because the previous week the lads gave a fantastic performance in our win over Arsenal. But it is also the reality of the job and we understand there will be times when players need minutes. We were happy to welcome them in for a game and Rio was really good in that first half.

On the team finding a way to win…

The Leeds goalkeeper made some very good saves and the one at the end from Figgy was incredible. Figgy got his goal and Kieran got the winning penalty. It's pleasing to win that way because they showed proper resolve to grind out that performance and get the win in the end.

On the movement of Will Wright and his return after a long injury lay-off…

We keep joking that Will does all the hard work for 60 minutes and then Figgy comes on and gets the highlights! Look, it's a team effort. He's a bit of a throwback, Will, because he likes a battle and he is such a willing runner. He's also got an eye for goal. He's got a good chance, Will.

On Figueroa scoring his 11th Premier League 2 goal of the season…

I've got a lot of time for Figgy. He's a great lad to work with, he takes on board what you ask of him and when the ball comes into the box, there is a strong chance that he will be on the end of it. I'm really pleased for him – he deserves it. He works hard during the week and I think he's now the top scorer in the division.

On the influence of Morrison…

To stay calm with the last kick of the game and get the winning goal for us, that's a credit to him. For all the hard work and effort that he put in, he deserved that. I've said to Kieran, 'Go and be the best player in training every day, be the best player in the games and be the best version of yourself.' He is getting more and more mature as the weeks go on and he is giving a good account of himself.
