NewsRun to Anfield unites 75,000 Reds in Liverpool and globally for LFC Foundation
The annual LFC Foundation fundraiser saw more than 1,000 runners of all ages and abilities take part in the 5k through Stanley Park and the 1k fun run for families and younger participants.
Meanwhile, close to 74,000 people around the world also completed this year's virtual Run to Anfield through the adidas running app, taking on their own 5k wherever they were.
That included a group of LFC colleagues who were more than 3,000 miles away in Chicago for the club's pre-season tour. They completed their own race along Lake Michigan's shores, with former Liverpool FC Women striker Natasha Dowie among those taking part, alongside LFC Foundation chief executive Matt Parish.
Back at Anfield, there was a brilliant atmosphere from the start, with plenty of support around the route as runners made their way through the park before crossing the finish line on 97 Avenue.
Everyone taking part received an official 2026 race medal before getting the chance to head inside Anfield for a pitchside photo.
Speaking after the event, Parish said: "It was brilliant to get a group of us together in Chicago to run our 5k, knowing that back home so many people were doing the same thing around Anfield and that thousands more were joining in from all over the world.
"A huge thank you to everyone who ran, jogged or walked, raised money, donated or supported someone taking part. It all helps us to continue the work LFC Foundation does every day to tackle social inequalities in our communities."
Every pound raised from Run to Anfield helps LFC Foundation deliver vital health programmes and support more people across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
This includes programmes such as Move, which help young people lead healthier, more active lifestyles, and Sound Minds, which uses music to support mental wellbeing. LFC Foundation also works with adults through programmes including Man 2 Man and Honeysuckle FC.
During the 2024-25 season, the Foundation supported more than 145,000 people, with more than half of participants coming from the top 20 per cent most-deprived areas in the UK.
Since the Foundation began reporting its social impact in 2020-21, its work has generated more than £170 million in healthcare savings, contributing to a combined social value of £364.79 million.
