The striker opened the scoring four minutes into Sunday’s game at Anfield with a precise header from a corner kick delivered towards the near post.

In the ascendancy for much of the encounter, the Reds later sealed three points from the Merseyside derby thanks to Cornelia Kapocs’ finish in front of the Kop.

On Liverpool making a fast start in the game…

I think we actually took with us the last derby we played against them, at Goodison. We didn’t really think about our history with playing at Anfield against them, but more of what we knew we can do against this team. We had a really good start. We wanted to build that into the second half; maybe we lost some of the playing style we want to have but we still had some really good chances.

On the nature of derbies and what the mindset was after half-time…

Especially since we were [1-0] up, we wanted to continue what we were doing but you also expect Everton to come out and change everything maybe and go even more aggressive, because that’s what you do in a derby. So they did disrupt us a bit, but we also created a bit more in the second half thanks to that. We took our chances but we should have had more goals, I think.

On continuing to push forward at 1-0…

That’s just in our [mentality]. I could never see us sit and try to defend something, we don’t have players that like to do that – we’re up and pressing and running all the time. It fits us and it fits the playing style that Liverpool want to do right now. We do that really well and that’s our way of defending the lead, I would say.

On her goal and whether it was one from the training ground…

It was, actually. Jordan [Kevan], our set-piece coach, told us that’s a really good space to aim for. It was a great ball into the box from Natalia [Ramos] and I just knew I had to be there. A good header, I guess.

On the positive atmosphere around the team at the moment…

Absolutely, it’s a really good group. And we have a great coaching staff that really makes us feel supported and secure in what we’re doing. Everyone is different so we contribute different things to the team, which I think is really special. You know that whatever you are best at, you should go and execute that. It’s good competition and everyone is very happy to be here and competing.

On the aims for the season ahead…

Get high up in the table. I want to get as high up as possible. I think Liverpool is a team that should be up there competing. I know that we have the players to do that, so that would be nice.
