Interview'This is my job' - Dominik Szoboszlai's verdict on his stellar Anfield debut for LFC

The No.8 produced a tireless, high-class outing on Saturday in what represented his first appearance at Anfield as a Red.

Jürgen Klopp's men came from behind to earn their first victory of the season as Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota were on the scoresheet, with Szoboszlai directly involved in the second and third goals.

After the game, Liverpoolfc.com spoke to the midfielder for his reaction to the result, his own performance and the team's brilliant response to the dismissal of Alexis Mac Allister in the second half.

Read on for the interview...

Dom, it was one of those days where you had to show great character...

Yeah, I think everybody showed the character of themselves and also the team. We had a really good reaction after conceding the goal and also after the red card because directly after we scored. I think it was really important. We are getting to know each other closer and closer and with time it will be even better and better.

There was a calmness about you at 1-0. It was almost like you found your rhythm and energy as a team...

Yeah, this was most important that we don't panic at 1-0 [down] – we still have 90 minutes to change the game. It's a really good reaction and we took the three points.

There was so much excitement about your performance but in terms of the front three, it's your job to supply them and they showed so much danger...

This is my job. I do everything for the team, I do everything for them and I do everything for myself. If somebody is in a better position, I play them the ball. If not, I can also shoot – I have to shoot even more. I'm just enjoying playing.

There were a couple of those opportunities where you got sight of the goal from range. Do you feel that first goal is coming for you?

It's going to come. With time, it's going to come, for sure. But for me the most important [thing] is that the team wins. It doesn't matter who scores the goals.

You showed character again when you went down to 10 men and then there was another injection of energy even with one player less...

Everybody had in their head, 'We have to fight now for Macca and also for everybody.' Because if one of us is not running, then we are not nine, we are eight. We had to do it for each other, for the fans, for us, for myself, everybody for themselves to have the three points.

How good was it playing at Anfield as a Liverpool player?

It was really nice. I was waiting since I signed. Finally the time came. Hopefully I can run a thousand times more out there and play for them.

Finally, just how important is it to get that first win of the season?

I think it's really important. Against Chelsea we had a good start and we were a little bit down but we take the one point from Stamford Bridge. To get the three points at home, it's really important.
