Thirty candidates for the prestigious prize were revealed this afternoon, with the winner to be crowned at a ceremony in Paris on Monday September 22.
From the Reds, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Florian Wirtz have each been named on the shortlist.
The Ballon d’Or final ranking will be decided by the votes of football journalists from FIFA’s top 100 ranked nations, who each select a top 10.
A selection within a top 10 earns a player a set number of points, descending from 15 for a first-place choice to one for 10th place, and the individual with the highest overall total will take the trophy.
