Today is the 20th anniversary of the Reds’ fifth European Cup win, one achieved against all the odds at the Ataturk Stadium.

Rafael Benitez’s side trailed 3-0 to an immensely talented AC Milan team at half-time that night and were heading towards a dismal defeat.

However, a second-half turnaround saw Steven Gerrard, Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso score during a six-minute passage that levelled the score.

Liverpool went on to clinch the cup via penalties, completing one of the most remarkable comebacks in the competition’s history.
