In the latest of our A Day With... series, host Rubi Deschamps follows the Dutchman at the AXA Training Centre and then at home to discover his life away from football.

The 22-year-old talks about the desire he carried to prove himself again after arriving at the Reds from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

"My only focus was I have to show the Ryan Gravenberch again," the No.38 recalls. "I spoke with [Jürgen] Klopp and he told me my chances would come for sure, 'You get your minutes, you get chances and then you have to show me if you are ready for it.'

"That was always in the back of my head like, 'OK, this year I didn't play a lot and I don't want to have a year again like this.' So I knew I have to show myself."

Gravenberch also reveals he received a glowing recommendation about the club from one of his Bayern teammates – who happens to be a Liverpool legend.

Indeed, Sadio Mane was the person he turned to when a move to Anfield appeared to be on the cards.

"A really nice guy," Gravenberch says. "When I was in Munich, I asked him also about Liverpool, if it's like a good step for me and how the club was and everything.

"He said a lot of good things. In my head I was like, 'I have to go!'"
