VideoWatch 'Classic Highlights': Liverpool 5-1 Arsenal (2014)
A catalysing moment in a season that saw the Reds launch an unexpected Premier League title challenge, Brendan Rodgers’ side were 4-0 up within 20 minutes at Anfield that day.
Martin Skrtel provided each of the first two goals, followed by efforts from Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge before the halfway point of the first half.
Sterling increased Liverpool’s margin over the league leaders to five early in the second half, rendering Mikel Arteta’s subsequent penalty barely a consolation.
“We have absolutely demolished a top team there from start to finish,” said Reds captain Steven Gerrard. “I am trying to think back of a performance, especially in the first half, that I can remember in the last 15 years.
“Maybe one or two in the Champions League got close, but that was as explosive as it gets. That’s definitely in the top three performances I have been involved in.”
