News'That's why we play' - Dominik Szoboszlai on Liverpool's trophies tilt

The Reds booked their place in the last eight of the Europa League after completing an 11-2 aggregate victory over Sparta Prague with a 6-1 win at Anfield on Thursday.

Szoboszlai was one of the players on target for Jürgen Klopp’s side, who were subsequently paired with Atalanta BC in April’s next stage.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, the Hungary captain looked ahead to the trip to Old Trafford and detailed the squad’s hunger to maintain their push for more glory on multiple fronts.

“It’s very good,” Szoboszlai said. “It’s never boring for us and probably for the fans as well!

“It’s hard but we have to be ready for all the competitions, we are fighting for the [Premier League] title but that’s why we play football, and [it is] probably what everybody loves.”

On facing United, the 23-year-old added: “In the last game we drew 0-0 with them [in the Premier League in December] and we had about 35 [shots], but now we have to score them!”

Szoboszlai netted in both legs of the Europa League victory versus Sparta, with the former RB Leipzig man having made a successful return from injury in recent weeks.

“To be honest, I’ve been fitter before,” he said when asked about his current fitness. “But I’m coming now to the shape that I was.

“I just needed games so with the games it’s going to come, everything.”

He continued: “After my first injury [in January] maybe it was a quick comeback. So, we learned from it and now I was not in a rush and I just wanted to be healthy and now I’m ready to go.”
