Champions LeagueReal Madrid confirm 24-man squad for Liverpool visit

The list of players announced by the hosts on the eve of the game included Karim Benzema.

The striker missed his side’s home victory over Espanyol last weekend due to an ankle problem but is “100 per cent” ready for the Reds’ visit, said Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Ferland Mendy was also named as available for Ancelotti having been absent last Saturday, while Aurelien Tchouameni has returned after missing the first leg at Anfield.

Defender David Alaba is sidelined, however.

Real Madrid squad: Courtois, Lunin, Lopez; Carvajal, Militao, Vallejo, Nacho, Odriozola, Vazquez, Rudiger, Mendy; Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Valverde, Tchouameni, Ceballos; Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Mariano, Alvaro.

On the intended approach from his team, Ancelotti said: “The message is clear. We don’t have to do any calculations, what we have to do is play as well as we can. We have to go into the game in the same way as we did in the first leg.

“We’re not thinking about what could happen, just playing with as much intensity and passion as we can to win the game.

“We’ve analysed what we did well and what we did badly in the first leg. We did a lot of good things, like the attacking side. We’re not going to go into the game thinking that we have the advantage, we’ll play an open game of attacking football.

“I think it’ll be an open game because Liverpool are coming here with the intention of turning the tie around. We have to play well in both areas: defending and attacking. We’re not thinking about defending, we’re thinking about attacking.”
