NewsSteven Caulker announces retirement from football

The 33-year-old confirmed the conclusion of a playing career that saw the defender represent 17 clubs after emerging through the Tottenham Hotspur youth system, and he also featured at international level for England and Sierra Leone.

Caulker’s journey in the game included a short spell at the Reds when he joined on loan from Queens Park Rangers in January 2016.

After debuting as a substitute against Arsenal at Anfield, he made a further three appearances for the club under Jürgen Klopp.

“It’s been a rollercoaster, to say the least. Today, I am very grateful for having experienced both sides of the coin, as it has helped me grow as a person,” he said of hanging up his boots.

“I would like to take this moment to thank everybody who has supported me along the way: family, friends, coaches and fans.

“I look forward to now focusing full-time on my coaching and using all my experiences to help guide the next generation.”
