AcademyLiverpool U18s beaten away at Wolves in Premier League Cup
The result means the young Reds' journey in the competition ends with a fourth-placed finish in Group F.
Goals from Owen Farmer and Josh Esen had the hosts 2-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes, with Keyrol Figueroa pulling one back at the end of the first half.
But Fabian Reynolds and Conor McLeod efforts after half-time ultimately gave Wolves an unassailable advantage, despite finishes from Elijah Gift and Carter Pinnington in the final quarter of an hour.
Offering his reaction, U18s boss Marc Bridge-Wilkinson told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a quite young side and we stuck at the challenge.
"A hard-fought game. It wasn't as good a performance as last week in terms of with the ball but the lads kept going and stuck at it.
"It would've been very easy to have allowed the game to go away at that point [being 4-1 down]. But the lads stuck at it and showed some good character traits to get back in and stick with it."
Liverpool U18s: Hewitson, Gyimah, Giblin (Davidson, 58), Samuels, Pinnington, Laffey, Pilling, Young, Gift, Danns (Pennington, 58), Figueroa.
Unused substitutes: Morana, Kone-Doherty, Kelly.
