GOAL's Sustainability Leaders Forum, now in its second year, connects professionals from across industries to compare journeys, celebrate progress and inspire further impact. The summit continues to grow as a platform for meaningful discussion and practical action.
This year's theme, 'Leading with Legacy', focused on how community, tradition and purpose can unlock long-term impact, while exploring how historic venues like Anfield are adapting for the future.
Over the course of the two-day event, the first day being held at Co-op Live in Manchester, more than 50 leaders and subject matter experts from the sports and entertainment industry took part – including 13 football clubs from across the UK, US and Spain, 24 sports teams from various leagues, including F1 and SailGP, and representatives from venue operators and owners and corporate brands focused on sustainability.
Attendees engaged in sessions covering a wide range of topics, including sustainability leadership, emerging technology and operational excellence. Key themes explored included decarbonising infrastructure, reimagining travel and transport, and defining what true sustainability success looks like.
While at Anfield, guests also received a behind-the-scenes stadium tour to look at LFC's sustainable operations and its ongoing commitment to The Red Way, which is the club's award-winning sustainability strategy.
Rishi Jain, director of impact at LFC, said: "This event provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase how we are leading on sustainability through The Red Way. Hosting so many influential voices here in Liverpool was about sharing ideas, learning from others and showing what can be achieved when we combine tradition with innovation. We are proud to play our part in driving positive change across the sports and entertainment industry."
Kristen Fulmer, executive director at GOAL, added: "This event has been a phenomenal opportunity for our sustainability-focused audience to experience the inspiring legacy of Anfield and commitment to The Red Way, and to connect with each other on topics relevant to Liverpool FC and many other sports and entertainment organisations. We are grateful for Liverpool's gracious support and participation in the GOAL network."
