Liverpool FC has been recognised for its leading work across sustainability and community, having been recently shortlisted for a total of six awards.

The club became the first in the Premier League to be sustainably certified and has now been further recognised, with nominations in three categories at the prestigious FEVO Sport Industry Awards 2023, and another three nominations at the acclaimed UK Sponsorship Awards 2023.

At the upcoming FEVO Sport Industry Awards, LFC has been shortlisted for Sport Organisation of the Year for its work off the pitch, in particular for fan engagement and the establishment of the Supporters Board, while also demonstrating its commitment to sustainability via The Red Way, and topping the Sport Positive League at the start of 2022.

Its work with partner SC Johnson, a family company at work for a better world, and the ‘Goals for Change’ partnership has been nominated for the Purpose Driven Partnership award. Launched in 2021, the partnership has seen fantastic progress in the drive to reduce waste, and has aligned with the club’s vision for a more sustainable future, which has been outlined in full in the recently published The Red Way Report.

Meanwhile, LFC Foundation has been recognised for its incredible work in making sustainable change in our communities, having been shortlisted for the Tessa Jowell Community Award.

Last season alone, LFC Foundation supported 83,000 people, with almost two-thirds of participants coming from the most deprived areas of the UK. In the same period it directly delivered £8 million into the local economy and contributed nearly £25 million in health benefits.

At the UK Sponsorship Awards, LFC has been acknowledged for its work with club partner Kodansha on World Book Day 2022, with the initiative shortlisted in both the Best Use of a Smaller Budget and Education and Learning Sponsorship categories. More than 300 children from schools across Liverpool were invited to Anfield to encourage them to discover a love of reading through a day of fun activities.

The club’s ‘Double the Donations’ campaign alongside official partner Quorn has also been nominated in the Social Purpose category. The initiative saw supporters across the county come together to increase donations to foodbanks in the area ahead of the Merseyside derby last April.

The winners will be announced at the UK Sponsorship Awards and the FEVO Sport Industry Awards, which will take place on Tuesday March 28 and Thursday April 27 respectively.
