The 40-year-old took his tally to 654 in the competition by starting in Brighton & Hove Albion's meeting with Brentford.
In his 24th season as a Premier League player, Milner overtook Gareth Barry's total of 653 to claim top spot on the list of games played.

He has achieved the feat by representing Leeds United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool and now Brighton in the division.
After arriving on a free transfer in the summer of 2015, Milner made 230 of his league appearances for the Reds across eight campaigns.
He lifted the Premier League trophy for the third time in his career at the end of the 2019-20 season, having also done so at City in 2011-12 and 2013-14.
