NewsHugo Ekitike adds his name to LFC's palindrome list - alongside who?
By Glenn Price
The French attacker – who completed his transfer to the club from Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday – has a surname that is a palindrome, meaning it is spelled the same when read backwards.
When he takes to the field, Ekitike will follow Sheyi Ojo and Ozan Kabak as palindromes to have played for the Reds' senior men's team in the last century.
Before them, David and Andrew Hannah featured in the late 1800s, the latter being the club's first ever captain.
Leon Noel – a full-name palindrome – and Karl Noon were prospects within the Academy set-up in the early 2000s who also met the criteria.
Ekitike joins Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace as a current Premier League palindrome.
