ColumnGareth Taylor on West Ham, Ceri Holland fitness and 'special' support

As always, when the players come back from an international break you have your fingers crossed they will all return in good health.

The reports that we have had back have been positive in the sense of everybody has come through unscathed.

I want to give a special mention to Beata Olsson, who made her debut for Sweden. I'm happy for her and it's a great reward for the hard work she has put in.

It is quite a difficult part of the season we are in now because players have endured a long season with club and country that can be quite demanding both physically and mentally.

So, between now and the end of the season we will be short and precise and keep players fresh, which is really important.

The work we have done with the players who didn't go on international duty has been really good.

It has allowed us to get Ceri Holland up to a level where she can hopefully be capable of participating in our game on Sunday against West Ham.

Anna Josendal has had some ongoing niggles but I do think once she gets herself fully fit she is going to be a really exciting player for this team.

We have three games remaining in the Barclays Women's Super League this season, plus the Adobe Women's FA Cup semi-final to come.

Our brief to the players as we go into these games is we are looking to win them all and looking to put in good performances that allow us the potential to win games.

There are no guarantees but since the turn of the year our play has been very good in the sense of us now looking more likely to kill teams off and dominate games where we can.

The games against Manchester City away and Arsenal at home are two tough opponents, of course, with both of them being able to field two teams, but our ambition is as always to try to win those games.

On Sunday we host West Ham at St Helens Stadium and I see it as a good opportunity to continue our good form at home.

It has been a real fortress for us in 2026. Our supporters have played a huge part in that and there is a real connection on what's going on on the pitch, as well as off it.

We are in a good moment having pulled clear of the relegation zone and our focus now is looking upwards and trying to climb the league as much as we can.

We really appreciate our supporters and all the backing they have given us this season. The way they stuck with us and the support they gave us in the first part of the season through difficult moments on and off the pitch was really special.

Last week, myself and our captain Grace Fisk laid some flowers at the Hillsborough Memorial on the anniversary of the tragedy. It was very emotional and all of our thoughts, as always, are with the families and survivors.

Thank you for your continued support.

YNWA,

Gareth
