NewsFitness latest: Joe Gomez to return, update on Conor Bradley

The defender has been sidelined since sustaining a muscle issue in the pre-season fixture versus Sunderland in late July.

However, Gomez resumed training alongside his teammates last week and is on course to feature in the third-round clash with Spurs at Anfield.

“He is training with the team,” head coach Andoni Iraola said on Monday.

“I think he’s going to be available for tomorrow and now it’s a matter of deciding how much he can play and what is the best thing to do.”

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Iraola was asked for an update on Conor Bradley’s rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury too.

“I think he is not close to training with the team,” said the boss. “He’s training alone but he has started touching the ball.

“Definitely I want him as quick as possible ready but it’s a long-term injury.

“I think [Giovanni] Leoni is a little bit ahead of him and still it’s going to take some time for Conor, yes.”
