LFC WomenFactfile: Get to know Jenna Clark

The 21-year-old joins as a defensive reinforcement for Matt Beard’s squad ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, bringing a wealth of experience from her time in Scotland with Glasgow City FC.

Jenna is an experienced centre-back. Despite being just 21, Clark has a range of experience to her name, making her professional debut in 2018 for Glasgow City after signing from Rangers. She went on to rack up 137 appearances for the club as a key figure in central defence, scoring 28 goals.

She has honours to her name. Clark has been part of four Scottish Women’s Premier League-winning sides during her young career, along with a single Women’s Scottish Cup triumph with Glasgow City. She was also named in the 2023 PFA Scotland Team of the Year, as voted for by players.

She knows the Champions League. Described by The Scotsman as ‘the most exciting defensive talent in Scotland’, Clark has lots of experience with Glasgow City during their campaigns in Europe – from first being named in a Champions League squad at just 16 while still in school, to scoring her first goal in the competition against FC Martve.

Clark scored on her Scotland debut. Jenna has six senior caps for her country to her name so far, having represented her nation from U16s upwards. On debut for the senior side at Hampden Park in 2021, she scored the sixth goal in an impressive 7-1 victory over the Faroe Islands.

LFC runs in the family. “I’m a Liverpool supporter,” Clark explained during her first interview as now a Reds player too. “My dad has always been a Liverpool fan, as soon as Kenny Dalglish came here, so for me growing up there was no other team to support. I was here on the stadium tour at Anfield last year.”
