ReactionDiogo Jota: We found a way to win again
The Portugal forward’s 78th-minute goal settled a tight contest at the City Ground 1-0 in the visitors’ favour and booked a last-four clash with Manchester City at Wembley next month.
Post-match, Jota spoke to ITV. Read on for the match-winner’s reaction…
On whether Liverpool deserved to win…
Yeah. Obviously it was a tough game, they are a great team, they play with a lot of intensity. They gave us a proper fight [but] in the end I think we deserved to win tonight.
On whether he thought he may have been ruled offside via a VAR review after his goal…
Yeah, I thought it was tight. I always trust that I’m onside but you never know.
On Forest’s performance…
Yeah, they had one big, big chance, the cross. I think they gave us a proper challenge here tonight: they play at home, the fans were outstanding. That was a really, really tough game, but we are in the semi-final.
On the Reds finding a way to win again…
Yeah, finding a way. Tough, very tough, today at the end of a cycle with loads of games. We needed to do a few changes as well. We fought, we fight really hard and we are in the next round.
On facing Manchester City twice in the space of a week next month…
I didn’t know [we drew them in the semi-finals]. Man City, another tough game. One more, we will have loads until the end of the season but there are still a lot of games before that so let’s focus on the next one after the break.
