ReactionCornelia Kapocs: A frustrating result but we have to keep believing
The striker bagged her second Anfield goal of the season to put the Reds ahead in the Barclays Women's Super League clash.
Meeting a perfect Ceri Holland cross at the back post, Kapocs nodded in a header from close range for 1-0 early in the second half.
But City fought back and after levelling via Iman Beney, they snatched victory near the end through Aoba Fujino's finish.
"Very frustrating," said Kapocs post-match. "I think we deserved a bit more today. Very disappointing.
"I feel like we're getting closer, we showed up really well today. We were close but they are also a really good team. We made it hard for them today.
"We need to take the good things with us. But we need to get some points now. It's frustrating."
The result made it five consecutive defeats for Gareth Taylor's team since the new WSL campaign began last month.
This was the third loss sustained by a one-goal margin, and Kapocs insisted the belief is there that the players' efforts will start to pay dividends.
"We need to keep on believing," added the No.7.
"We're getting closer and closer. We can't do anything else than believe in ourselves. It's just to keep going."
