Press conferenceArne Slot on Mo Salah fitness news: 'It's a relief - he deserves a big send-off'

The Reds' No.11 was forced to depart the second half of Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League last weekend due to a muscle injury.

Salah has now been ruled out of Sunday’s visit to face Manchester United, though is expected to be available before the end of the season ahead of his summer departure from Merseyside.

Asked if there was any update on the timescale for a return, Slot said: "That is the latest! As we know from Mo, he’s always working incredibly hard during the season when he’s fit, but definitely also when he is injured to be back as soon as possible.

"That's what he’s trying now so well. Usually he's earlier fit than other players after a minor injury - because he has a minor injury. We expect him indeed to be back in the final part of the season, but not for Sunday."

Following the trip to Old Trafford, Liverpool will take on Chelsea at Anfield on May 9, ahead of a visit to Aston Villa on May 17.

The Reds will then host Brentford on the final day of the campaign on May 24 to bring down the curtain on the 2025-26 campaign and Salah's career in L4.

On whether it was a 'relief' that the injury wasn't season-ending, Slot added: "Not in some ways, in all ways, it’s a big relief that his injury is minor, so that he’s able to play for us, that he's able to play at the World Cup. If there's any time a player that deserves to get a big send-off, it’s definitely Mo."
