The accolade celebrates the best men’s goalkeepers in world football as part of the annual Ballon d’Or awards.
Today, Liverpool’s No.1 and Brazil international Alisson, who helped the Reds win a second Premier League title of his spell at the club last term, was confirmed as a candidate for this year’s honour.
He is up against Yassine Bounou, Lucas Chevalier, Thibaut Courtois, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Emiliano Martinez, Jan Oblak, David Raya, Matz Sels and Yann Sommer, with the winner to be confirmed on September 22.
Alisson previously won the inaugural Yachine Trophy in 2019 and was runner-up three years later.
