At the start of the 23/24 season, LFC Foundation launched a football programme which created a fun learning environment for boys and girls aged between 4 and 12 years old.
25p of each membership fee from the 23/24 season was kindly donated to LFC Foundation to help provide young footballers with access to LFC Foundation sessions.
This donation helped to provide free sessions for young players at the start of their football journeys. These sessions were delivered across two sites last season with desires to grow this programme and help more young people next season.
Each session is designed to equip young people with high quality football education delivered by UEFA qualified football coaches in ‘The Liverpool Way’. As part of LFC Foundation’s football provision, there are opportunities for talent identification and pathways to progress a young person’s football experience.
71 young players aged between 4 – 12 years of age were provided free access to LFC Foundation football sessions.
Collectively, they attended 941 sessions throughout the course of the season.
2 players from LFC Foundation’s Player Development Programme and Emerging Talent Centre were talent identified to join Liverpool FC’s academies.
Last season, two young players were scouted at LFC Foundation’s at Player Development Programme and Emerging Talent Centre.
Lucie Finlay and Kingsley Obinna Godwin attended LFC Foundation’s football programmes last season and through the help of LFC Foundation’s talented coaches and their hard work they were both offers places in the academy for LFC.
LFC Foundation’s football programmes are focused on creating experiences that will we shape our participants progression into young adults and give them skills that can be used throughout their lives.
Karl Carney, LFC Foundation’s Sport & Physical Activity Department Manager said, “We’re incredibly fortunate to be a part of the greatest Football Family in the world.”
“Having the support of Reds fans and the donations from LFC members has meant that we’ve been able to offer a high-quality football education to more young people across the Liverpool City Region. With the support of LFC Foundation coaching teams, two young players have been identified and progressed through to their respective academies which is exciting for their football careers and something that our team are incredibly proud of.”
“However, our football provision is more than drills and coaching. It is designed to help young people with skills that can be used both on and off the pitch, helping young people as they progress through to adulthood.”
“Thank you to all LFC members for your support.”
