Emile Heskey officially launches LFC International Academy Thailand
Former Liverpool player Emile Heskey attended the official launch of LFC’s new academy in Bangkok – the first time the programme has been available in Thailand.
Heskey, who scored 22 goals in his first full season for the Reds helping them to win a historic treble, was the special guest at the Denla British School in Bangkok and spent time observing coaching sessions and meeting young players.
The former Reds striker was in Thailand to also help the club kick-off its annual International Retail Conference in Phuket and take part in a number of local community events last week. He then headed to Surabaya for the launch of the LFC’s second retail store in Indonesia, before returning to Thailand to attend the official launch of LFC’s new academy in Bangkok.
Speaking about the event, Heskey said: “It’s great to be able to provide so many young players in Thailand with the same elite coaching programme that’s delivered at the Academy in Liverpool. By learning to play ‘The Liverpool Way’, they will develop in all aspects of the game, while learning key life skills. And they will have fun and enjoy being part of LFC.”
Alongside Heskey were senior coaches from LFC who attended the event, with the young players enjoying taking part in LFC International Academy coaching sessions under the watchful eye of coaching staff.
Daniel Gavin, Senior Coaching Manager at LFC, said: “It’s fantastic to see such a great turnout for the event. To have LFC International Academy now in Thailand, offering a true LFC coaching experience to youngsters here and providing the local coaches with a comprehensive coach education scheme, is really important to us.
“This event was a wonderful way to officially launch the new Academy programme, and we’re thrilled Emile could join us today as a special bonus for all the young players.”
Mr Surasak Areesawangkit, CEO of Liverpool International Academy Thailand, said: “We’re very excited to bring LFC International Academy to Thailand. It’s a real honour and a privilege.
“The draw of LFC in Thailand is huge and LFC’s values really resonate here. Those values will help guide us in building something very special for our young players.”
LFC International Academy Thailand is a year-round development programme, providing unique opportunities for young players aged five to 16 years old to learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’.
