80 senior members of coaching staff from LFC International Academies across five continents recently took part in the annual LFC Coach Convention.
Organised by LFC International Academy, the aim of the event is to deliver the best possible education experience for coaches representing LFC around the world. Over five days, more than ten hours of content was shared with the attendees, passing on best practice and unique insight. The seminars delivered included a wide range of football development material and coach considerations at each development phase, as well as important safeguarding updates.
The speakers included the likes of Andrew Nicholas, Senior Coaching Manager, John Pout, Director of Safeguarding, Lewis Dunwoody, Academy Performance Analyst, Steven Gillespie, Programme Manager and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Under 18 Manager.
In addition, training sessions delivered by a series of international head coaches and coaching journey podcasts hosted by Daniel Gavin, Programme Manager, provided unique insight into the delivery of LFC coaching programmes around the world.
Dan White, Vice President, LFC International Academies said, “The annual coach convention is always a highlight in our calendar and it’s great to be able to provide the unique insight we do through events such as this. Given the current challenges with international travel the event was delivered in digital format again this year. With the use of technology, we were still able to provide a valuable update for our coaching staff around the world. I’d like to thank all those who contributed to the production of the event this year to ensure it was such a success.”
Feedback from coaches who took part in the event was also hugely positive.
Rungien Sivananda Pillay, a coach at LFC IA Mauritius, said: 'It was very enriching for me as a coach and I am looking forward to learning more from LFC, so we can continue to gather information and knowledge to share with our players.”
Those sentiments were echoed by other coaches, with LFC IA Michigan’s Justin Makar commenting: “I enjoyed watching the on-field sessions to see how the curriculum is being executed across different countries. I also thought the discussions on the coaching in the different phases was fantastic and it’s great to hear what is expected of coaches and players at their different stages of development.”
