Signed in September 1968, Phil Boersma made his Liverpool league debut almost exactly a year later at West Bromwich Albion.

<p>But he only made three more league appearances that season, plus two runouts in cup competitions.</p><p>Boersma never really established himself as a first-team regular at Anfield but was always a good squad player and scored a number of important goals for the club, including four during the successful UEFA Cup run of 1972-73. He also netted seven times in the league that season as the Reds won the title. </p><p>The forward's most productive spell at Liverpool came at the start of the 1974-75 season when he scored 10 goals in five weeks.</p><p>He departed to join Middlesbrough in late 1975.</p>
