Frank Becton moved to Liverpool for quite a substantial sum of £100 in March 1895, also making his debut for the England national team in the same month.

<p>He scored on his debut for the club against Sunderland on March 25, 1895 and finished with four goals from only five appearances by the end of that season.</p><p>A further 34 league goals came during the next three campaigns, plus another four strikes in FA Cup games.</p><p>His final figures were 42 goals from 86 matches, which included four appearances in the 'Test' fixtures played at the end of each season to decide promotion and relegation.</p><p>Becton died of tuberculosis at only 36 years old on November 6, 1909.</p>
