2019 Champions League final

June 1, 2019 | Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Liverpool (Salah 2, Origi 87)

European Cup/Champions League

Liverpool were crowned champions of Europe for a sixth time on the night of June 1, 2019.

At Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid, Jürgen Klopp's Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 through goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.

Not even two minutes of the Champions League final had elapsed before Salah smashed home a penalty kick awarded for a handball inside the area.

A tense affair ensued between the fellow Premier League sides, remaining 1-0 as Klopp's men sought redemption after defeat in the 2018 showpiece.

It was ultimately settled in the closing minutes as substitute Origi rasped a low, left-footed effort across the goalkeeper into the corner, right in front of a jubilant Liverpool end of the stadium.

Jordan Henderson then became the fifth captain in club history to lift the famous trophy for the Reds.

"We were all pretty much crying on the pitch because it was so emotional," said Klopp. "It was so big, it means so much to us."

Salah's strike on one minute, 48 seconds was, at the time, the second-fastest goal in a Champions League final.

This was the first ever Champions League final without a single card shown.
