Honour: FA Women's Championship (2022)

Leanne Kiernan’s prolific first season with Liverpool FC Women helped inspire Matt Beard’s team to the FA Women’s Championship title.

After arriving from West Ham United in June 2021, Kiernan scored 14 goals to fire the Reds to a return to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Republic of Ireland international was also crowned Liverpool FC Women's Standard Chartered Player of the Season for 2021-22 and signed a new contract with the club in September 2022.

Kiernan knows Beard well having played for him for three seasons at West Ham and spoke of her delight at extending her time with the Reds.

“This is a thrilling moment for me and my family, and a really exciting time. I think this club is kind of like home for me,” said the forward, who can also play as a winger.

“People know that if life’s good outside of football you get to perform better on the pitch. I really like the people, I really like the place, and the girls are great around me. I couldn’t have won any awards without them.

“I’m getting used to Beardy being beside me when I sign a contract, this will be my fifth year knowing him! He understands me well and gets the best out of me, so hopefully I can repay him in return.”

Kiernan began her career with Shelbourne in her homeland, were she was a league and cup winner.
