A Netherlands youth international, defender Sepp van den Berg joined Liverpool FC from PEC Zwolle in June 2019.
The club's first signing since becoming champions of Europe for the sixth time earlier that month, he went on to make four first-team appearances during his debut season at Anfield, in the FA Cup and League Cup.
Van den Berg was also an unused substitute on the night the Reds won the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time by beating Flamengo 1-0 in Qatar in December 2019.
In February 2021, he headed out on loan to Preston North End to gain further experience in the Championship and impressed in his 16 appearances, paving the way for a return to Deepdale for the entire 2021-22 season.
