MatchWSL: Key stats to know ahead of London City Lionesses v Liverpool
The Reds travel to Copperjax Community Stadium on Sunday for an 11.55am BST kick-off.
Here are a selection of pre-match facts and figures from Opta…
This will be Liverpool’s first trip to face London City Lionesses in all competitions since beating them 2-0 in the fifth round of the 2023-24 Women’s FA Cup.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last four league games against newly promoted opposition, since a 2-0 away loss to Manchester United in September 2019.
London City Lionesses are unbeaten in each of their last three league meetings with Liverpool (won one, drawn two), with this the first since March 2022, a 1-1 draw at Princes Park.
The hosts have also lost just two of their 11 home league games under manager Jocelyn Precheur (won seven, drawn two), though one of those was their first in the WSL last month, losing 5-1 to Manchester United.
Gareth Taylor has won eight of his nine games in the WSL against newly promoted opposition – the exception was a 2-1 away loss to Liverpool with Manchester City in May 2023.
London City Lionesses have conceded the joint-most goals in the WSL so far this season, giving up 14 in total (also West Ham United); only Yeovil Town (18) have ever conceded more goals across their first four matches in the competition.
Four of the nine penalties awarded in the WSL so far this season have been against London City Lionesses, and they could become the first team in WSL history to concede a penalty in four consecutive matches.
London City Lionesses’ Nikita Parris has scored nine WSL goals against Liverpool, with those strikes coming for three different clubs (Everton, Man City, Brighton & Hove Albion).
On her first WSL start against Manchester United, Liverpool’s Kirsty Maclean recorded the most dribbles (five) and won the most tackles (three) of any Reds player. Her five dribbles were the most by a player on their first start for the club in the WSL since Melissa Lawley in September 2019 (six).
