NewsWorld Cup: Victor Munoz's Spain score late to reach quarter-finals

Victor Munoz's Spain reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup thanks to a late 1-0 victory over Portugal.

A goal from substitute Mikel Merino in the first minute of added time in the second half settled the contest in narrow fashion on Monday.

Munoz was an unused substitute for his country in Dallas as Luis de la Fuente's side progressed through in the tournament.

Spain will now face Belgium in the last eight on Friday (July 10).
