NewsReds set to meet after World Cup group-stage draw made in Washington DC

Next summer’s tournament will take place across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

A number of Liverpool players have already helped their nation confirm a spot at the World Cup, including those representing Japan, Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Scotland.

Six spaces are still to be decided for the expanded 48-team competition, with Conor Bradley’s Northern Ireland and Alexander Isak’s Sweden having the chance to qualify via UEFA play-offs.

The draw threw up several potential games between Reds teammates.

Alisson Becker’s Brazil were paired with Scotland and Andy Robertson in Group C, while Jeremie Frimpong, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk could meet Wataru Endo, with the Dutch being joined in Group F by Japan.

Isak’s Sweden will also be in Group F if they win play-off B.
