Arne Slot intends to field a 'strong' Liverpool side in Friday night's visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Reds return to Molineux fewer than 72 hours after a 2-1 defeat there in the Premier League.

No fresh injury concerns were reported within the Reds squad following Tuesday's game and Florian Wirtz could play a brief role in the fifth-round tie.

The German has been forced to sit out the last three matches with a back injury.

Speaking on Thursday, Slot said: "He [Wirtz] trained half and half yesterday with the team. What I mean with that is he was a 'joker', you say over here I think, so he made the next step in his rehab.

"So, let's see where he is today and if he then could be available for a few – a few – minutes tomorrow, in the best scenario."

With the quick turnaround from the last trip to the West Midlands, the Liverpool head coach was asked about the options he had available to 'change it up'.

"We have a few, but we don't have 11, as you know. But we do have a few options," replied Slot. "I always have options to bring in and players you can bring in, you can also let them start. So we do have a few options.

"But again, not for the first time this season that three days after a game, we've again dropped points. And that is something I've seen us doing quite a lot this season. And now it's again three days after the last one. So, we have to be better than we were the last time we played Wolves."

He later added: "We will have a strong line-up tomorrow. But we're also fully aware, I'm also fully aware, of the fact of how many games we are playing.

"It's three games in seven days many times for us this season. And now again. And we go again with Spurs on Sunday, Wednesday Galatasaray, Saturday early kick-off. So that's now probably the fifth or the sixth time this season that we play three games in seven days.

"So I, we are aware of that as well and sometimes you take that into account in the line-up or in playing time.

"Because, yeah, it's always by choice that you take Jeremie [Frimpong] off but I don't think it was smart for him to play 90 and that's why we took him off [on Tuesday]."

Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni remain sidelined.

Should he pick up a yellow card and Liverpool progress, Joe Gomez would be suspended for the quarter-finals.

Wolves midfielder Andre has already received two cautions in this season's competition and is therefore unable to play in the 8pm GMT kick-off.

Their head coach Rob Edwards made four changes for the encounter in midweek and stated he had a clean bill of health in the group on the eve of this tie.

"We made some changes but that was because we knew what was coming up, but we also felt it was the right way to try to win the game on Tuesday night," Edwards said. "We did that for both those reasons.

"It's hard for me to prioritise either game. We're really valuing this game tomorrow. Now this game tomorrow is the most important game of our season – but Tuesday night was the most important game of our season at that moment.

"Apart from Andre, who is suspended, we're in a good spot now where everyone's fit and available for tomorrow night."

Having played in the previous two rounds of the FA Cup, against Shrewsbury Town and Grimsby Town, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone could come in for Jose Sa.
