Brentford were defeated 3-0 in the Premier League and Jürgen Klopp's side then set up a date at Wembley with a 2-0 win at Arsenal in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final.

They completed their schedule in January with a battling 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace.
