Reaction'We have to take the positives from this performance and push on'
Jenna Clark believes Liverpool FC Women can build on their performance in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Reds were moments away from securing a first win of the Barclays Women's Super League season against the Seagulls.
They had led for more than an hour of the contest through Beata Olsson's first-half finish, and remained in front heading into stoppage time.
But the visitors denied Gareth Taylor's side all three points with an equaliser just before the final whistle.
Reflecting on the team's display, centre-back Clark told Sky Sports post-match: "I think we probably just showed more spells of what we've already been doing, just throughout the game for a bit longer.
"I think we kept possession well, we created good chances, we got forward, we defended well. But it's just frustrating to lose a goal right at the end there.
"Sometimes football is just cruel. I felt like all the girls left their all on the pitch. We couldn't really ask for more on the day."
In his own assessment of the game, head coach Taylor highlighted the 'forward steps' he saw in the encounter from his squad.
Clark insisted the players are progressing with each appearance as they adapt to a different style under the new boss.
"Yeah, definitely," she said. "We have shown it in spells in every game that we have played so far, it's just it hasn't clicked for us.
"Today was maybe the start of that happening. There's more to come from us. It has been a really difficult start to the season, so we look to push on from the positives.
"[A point] is still a step in the right direction. We did want to take all three points, but it's the first one on the board so it's still really important."
