Reaction'We did a great job' - Hugo Ekitike on victory over Galatasaray

The Reds overturned a single goal deficit in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie against the Turkish Super Lig outfit at Anfield.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah saw Arne Slot's side progress into the last eight of the competition.

Following the game, Liverpool's No.22 gave his immediate reaction to TNT Sports - read on to see what he had to say below…

On reaching the Champions League quarter-finals...

I think we deserve to be here. We're really happy. I think we did a great job tonight. We could win 10-0 because we missed a few chances! But we still did a good job and we can be proud of us tonight. We can look forward to the quarter-final.

On how important it was to score quick goals in the second half...

I think we needed this. We missed a few chances at the end of the first half. Even myself when I sat in the locker room at half-time I was thinking that we needed to keep [playing] this game. I had my chances and I could score more tonight to be honest.

But I had my chance [to score] and then I think we felt more free [after]. Ryan scored straight away and I think it helped the team. Everybody did a great job running for each other and that's why we won tonight.

On Salah reaching 50 Champions League goals and learning from him...

I mean he is a legend! Obviously I think sometimes people say he has a difficult season, but for a player like us who have been watching him for years he's important.

You look tonight and I think he had many chances but he still had the mindset to give me a great ball to score. I'm really happy for him. He deserves it. We need to do that every game now.

On facing Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals...

I can't wait to be there!
