Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah featured in the starting XI for the Young Lions’ second match of Group B, played at Nitra Stadium in Slovakia.
Elliott went closest to scoring during the first half, his first-time volley from a deep cross to the left of the area going over the ’keeper but bouncing away off the opposite post.
Reds midfielder Tyler Morton was introduced from the England bench on 72 minutes as neither side were able to find a breakthrough on the evening.
Elliott was named Player of the Match after full-time, with the UEFA Technical Observer Group commenting: “Elliott was the biggest threat throughout, having attempts on goal and making dangerous runs into the box. He was also very industrious in midfield build-up play.”
Holders England complete the group phase against Germany on Wednesday (June 18) and will need a point to guarantee qualification for the quarter-finals.
