AcademyU18s match report: Liverpool score six to earn victory at Burnley
The Reds made it two wins from two in U18 Premier League North action action this season with another clinical display in front of goal.
It took them just two minutes to open the scoring in Lancashire as Finn Inglethorpe found AJ Yeguo in the area, who produced a superb angled finish.
However, Burnley were level only five minutes later, netting via George Brierley after Luca Scanlon’s low cross found his teammate.
Liverpool continued to pressure their hosts, with Joe Bradshaw and Haydn Murray-Holme both testing the goalkeeper.
The former was then denied a goal by the offside flag as he tapped home a rebound from Prince Cisse’s initial shot.
After half-time, Simon Wiles’ side asserted their dominance on the contest in quick fashion and opened up an unassailable lead.
Josh Sonni-Lambie converted a penalty after Yeguo was brought down in the area, and Bradshaw added a third after good work in the area saw him force a save then convert at the second attempt.
Ahead of the hour mark, the Reds scored a fourth via Sonni-Lambie once again, with Bradshaw and DJ Esdaille combining to set up the forward.
Substitute La’more Lee Forrester produced a fifth for the visitors with a brilliant solo run to sprint down the left and into the box to net.
Four minutes from time, Bradshaw raced clear down the right flank to complete the win, striking his second of the afternoon and Liverpool’s sixth to put an exclamation point on victory.
