Jürgen Klopp says his Liverpool squad will take a ‘step by step’ approach towards the end of a hectic season.

The Reds remain in the hunt on three trophy fronts in the club’s search for an unprecedented quadruple, having already lifted the Carabao Cup in February at Wembley.

They continue to chase Manchester City in the Premier League title race with six games remaining ahead of this weekend’s Merseyside derby.

Klopp’s men are also into the final four of the Champions League – where they will face La Liga outfit Villarreal – and have reached the Emirates FA Cup final to set up a second meeting with Chelsea at the national stadium on May 14.

Jürgen Klopp's pre-Everton press conference

In the third part of his pre-Everton press conference, Klopp was asked whether his players could draw on any of the experiences gained from previous strong finishes.

“We don’t go for four trophies, that would mean we think about four trophies,” the boss said.

“But we really don’t, it’s just we don’t think about it. We don’t plan now [for] the Champions League final, for example.

“We think about Everton and then we know we have, not a lot of time, but [a] short spell to think about Villarreal.

“We don’t make a step – the second step – before the first.

“That we have this kind of record, if you want, is because we always needed it as well.

'It was obviously a good idea to sign Naby and Thiago'

Press conference'It was obviously a good idea to sign Naby and Thiago'Jürgen Klopp has expressed his appreciation for the recent form of Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita.

“I don’t think we could ever afford to drop points in that period of the season, you can say.

“We put ourselves under pressure and then we had to deliver. That’s what the boys did. I didn’t need the last season as a proof that the boys can do that.

“I trust this group more than I can say, but it was never easy and that’s the only thing we have to remember.

“It will not be easy this year, it will be incredibly difficult. But the only way I know is to do it really step by step, game by game. That’s what worked for us in the past, that’s what we try again. That’s all.”
