Teagan Micah cannot wait to get started with Liverpool FC Women after becoming Matt Beard's fourth signing of the summer.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has secured a switch to Merseyside from FC Rosengard in Sweden and will join up with the Reds following this summer's Women's World Cup.

Watch what the Australia international goalkeeper had to say about her move, which was announced on Monday, in the video below, or read on for a full transcript…

Teagan, welcome to the club. How does it feel to be a Liverpool player?

I think it's kind of surreal, to be honest. It's Liverpool Football Club. It's massive and I'm just really excited for this next chapter in my career.

Why did you opt for Liverpool and why is this the right club for you?

I think just having good chats with Matt [Beard] and Pottsy, the goalkeeper coach, I just got a really good vibe from them and it's such a good club and it's got a lot of history to it. So, that's also exciting.

For me, it was also about getting into the WSL. I know it's turning into the best league in the world and to be able to compete against the best players in the world is really important for myself and my career. I can just see that this club is going places now and it's investing. It was just a lot of good factors coming together really.

Have you been watching the WSL from afar and wondering whether you would be part of it?

I've pretty much watched most games. If not, I'd always watch the highlights. So, yeah, I've been keeping tabs on it for sure.

How do you think you're suited to the WSL and the way that Liverpool play?

I've been told I have good feet! I'm not going to sit here and tell you I'm the best, but I think hopefully it's going to be a good fit for us.

And you've played all over the world after being brought up in Australia…

I'm quite used to it, to be honest. I moved out playing professional since I was about 17. And then from then on, I went to college for four years [in the United States], and that probably saved me and my love for the game. It just reignited everything for me and really kind of set me on a path of like this is what I want to do. From then I went to Scandinavia, won the Norwegian league and won the Swedish league twice. I just feel like this is the next move.

You have a winning mentality then...

Yeah, for sure. It is addictive, of course. But I just see where I want to play and where I'm going to succeed both on and off the pitch. That's also important to me.

And you have a World Cup as well this summer at home in Australia...

I think it's a massive few months, isn't it? I'm really, really excited. I think Australia isn't really ready yet to see the talent that is going to come. Not just from our national team, of course, but worldwide, there's so many good players coming to Australia and New Zealand. It's going to be a big summer, or Australian winter, I guess.

What will the reaction be like in Australia when they find out you're signing for Liverpool?

I think it will be massive. I hope so. I think Liverpool is a massive club all around the world anyway. Hopefully the Aussies can start to get around it a bit more. It's a bit harder when the games are at 3am our time, but hopefully with another Aussie at the club, they'll get around it a bit more.

It's been a good few years for Beard's team and you'll be hoping to be part of kicking on to the next level...

I hope I can help us take us to the next level and really cement ourselves as, hopefully, a top four Champions League team in the years to come in the WSL. I don't see why not. I think it's manageable for sure.

And you must be excited about the news that the team will be moving their training base to Melwood…

I think it's massive, especially just to progress the game on the women's side. I think they've deserved it with coming up into the league and obviously having a really good season last year. I think it's just another step in the right direction for the club.

Finally, just how does it feel to be a Liverpool player?

I think I'm just proper excited. I'm really stoked to be here and can't wait to get to work after the World Cup.
