MatchStats: Liverpool out to set new goalscoring record in Anfield clash with Arsenal
A goal against Arsenal on Sunday would see Liverpool set a new club record for scoring in consecutive games in the top flight.
Arne Slot’s Reds have found the net in each of their last 36 Premier League outings, which is level with a sequence recorded by Jürgen Klopp’s team between March 2019 and February 2020.
The reigning champions have scored in 98 per cent (39 out of 40) of their Premier League games under Slot – the highest percentage of any manager in the competition’s history. The sole exception was the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in September last year.

Liverpool are winless in six Premier League matches against Arsenal (drawn four, lost two), their longest run without a victory versus the Gunners since going eight winless matches in a row between October 2007 and April 2011.
The Reds have won 25 Premier League games against Arsenal, with the Gunners winning 23 and 23 matches finishing in a draw. Only versus Everton (26) have Liverpool drawn more Premier League games.
Slot’s side are unbeaten in their last 18 top-flight fixtures at Anfield, since the defeat by Forest, and the Reds have not lost a home league game in the month of August since 2015 (won 12, drawn two).
Liverpool have not lost any of their last seven Premier League games that have come immediately before an international break (won six, drew one), winning each of the last four without conceding. Arsenal, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last 13 such fixtures (won 10, drew three).
The last three Premier League games between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield have all been drawn, while the Gunners are winless in their last 12 away games against the Reds (drew five, lost seven) since a 2-0 win back in September 2012 when current manager Mikel Arteta started.
Liverpool have scored in 22 of their last 23 league fixtures against Arsenal and in each of the last 19.
Only Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur (206) has seen more goals of all Premier League fixtures than the Reds’ meetings with Arsenal (198). Since 2015-16, it has seen the most goals of any fixture (78 in 20 games).
The Reds have scored three or more goals in eight of the last 12 Premier League meetings at Anfield.
There has only been one goalless draw in the last 52 league encounters, in 2015 at Emirates Stadium. The last league meeting at Anfield that failed to produce a goal came in August 1998.
Rio Ngumoha became the second-youngest debut Premier League scorer in history (16 years, 361 days) with his winner against Newcastle United last Monday, behind James Vaughan (16 years, 270 days in 2005). The current youngest player to score in his first two games is Federico Macheda in 2009 (17 years, 232 days).

Arsenal have won their first two Premier League games without conceding in 2025-26 – in only one of their last 20 seasons have they won their first three games, doing so in 2022-23. The last time the Gunners won their first three matches without conceding in a league season was 1924-25.
Since the start of 2023-24, Arteta’s team have scored 33 goals from corners in the Premier League – more than any other side in Europe’s top five leagues in that timeframe. The Gunners have scored from a corner in their last three games – they’ve never done so in four matches in a row before.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 15 Premier League away games since a 1-0 loss at Newcastle in November 2024 (won eight, drew seven). Only between April 2003 and September 2004 (27) and August 2001 and September 2002 (23) have the Gunners enjoyed a longer run without defeat on the road in the competition.
