Sophie Roman Haug is expected to be fit for Liverpool FC Women’s visit to Manchester City Women on Sunday.
The striker missed the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth-round win at Bristol City Women last time out due to an ankle problem, but Matt Beard believes the Reds’ top scorer will be in contention for the weekend’s match at Joie Stadium.
The manager told Liverpoolfc.com: “Sophie should be back and available for Sunday’s trip to Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League. She had an issue with her ankle but it has settled down.
“She partly trained on Friday and fully trained on Saturday. With a good week under her belt, we anticipate she will be available for Sunday.”
Beard also provided updates on the fitness of Taylor Hinds, who was withdrawn on the hour at Ashton Gate, as well as Yana Daniels and Leanne Kiernan.
“Taylor Hinds got a knock in the first half. She wasn’t right but she wanted to carry on, but we didn’t take any chances,” he said.
“Yana Daniels was back in contact training on Saturday after her knee problem but Leanne Kiernan is out. Leanne had a scan and she has got a slight inflammation on her hip.
“With Leanne, you’ve got to remember that she has been out for 15 months and when you come back you can pick up minor injuries here and there. So, it’s nothing major, it’s a minor one and we are not anticipating it to be long.”
