ReactionRyan Gravenberch: It wasn't good enough - but we can turn this around
Ryan Gravenberch reflected on the frustration of Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray while insisting the Champions League tie can be turned around at Anfield.
The first leg of the last-16 clash at RAMS Park on Tuesday evening ended in victory for the Turkish side, courtesy of Mario Lemina’s seventh-minute goal.
Both teams created a number of chances in the remainder and the Reds were also denied an equaliser in the second half by a VAR review.
Gravenberch acknowledged Liverpool’s performance was ‘not enough’ but has belief Arne Slot’s men will overcome the deficit in next week’s second leg.

On disappointment being the overwhelming emotion of the night…
Of course. If you come here you know it will be a tough game and if you play like this it’s not enough. But we know it’s only the first game, we have the second game at Anfield and we have to turn it around there.
On luck not being on Liverpool’s side and having early chances before Galatasaray scored…
Sometimes we have the feeling also on the pitch that the luck is not with us. Especially in the first five or 10 minutes, I think if we scored one or two goals then it would be a different game. But at the end, we didn’t play a good game and we know that. Next week it has to be much better.
On not taking opportunities in the final third…
If you don’t score against them and you get the first against you, with this atmosphere and with these fans it will be difficult here. Hopefully next week, we play at our home stadium and with our home fans, we are confident that we can turn it around.
On what to take from the performance…
Next week we have our own fans, we play at Anfield, we play at home and we are confident we can turn it around. We have a good team, we have good players but we need to work hard and show them that we can do it.
On motivation heading into the second leg…
Of course. They are happy now but we have to show them that we are happy next week.
