Rest in peace, Tony Ensor

A respected lawyer and judge, Tony joined the Reds as the club’s solicitor in 1975 and would go on to serve in the role for the next two decades.

He was a member of the LFC board during a period of significant success as a host of major honours were secured under the guidance of Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish.

In his position as solicitor, Tony also represented the club in the inquiries and inquests that followed the tragedies at Heysel and Hillsborough in 1985 and 1989 respectively.

In 2015, he gave evidence at the new Hillsborough inquests, which returned momentous verdicts that the 97 supporters who lost their lives were unlawfully killed and that fans had played no part in causing the disaster.

Tony, whose full name was George Anthony Ensor, was also a long-time trustee for the Liverpool Empire Theatre in the city.

The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this time.
