Rest in peace, Alan Banks
The Merseyside-born forward died at the age of 87 earlier this month.
Banks made eight appearances in total for the Reds after debuting in September 1958, scoring six times.
The first of those goals came on his debut, aged 19, when Brighton & Hove Albion were beaten 5-0 at Anfield.
He left the club to join Cambridge City in 1961 and then transferred to Exeter City in 1964, with Banks going on to become a legendary figure with the Grecians.
Across two spells – which sandwiched a single season at Plymouth Argyle – Banks scored 109 goals for Exeter.
“His legacy will live on for generations to come,” said Exeter. “The club will dedicate a match to Alan during the forthcoming season and is also planning a permanent tribute to honour one of the greatest players in Exeter City’s history.”

The condolences and thoughts of everyone at LFC are with Alan’s family and friends at this sad time.
