Respects paid to Matt Beard during LFC Women v Sunderland
By Liverpool FC
The Reds took to the pitch at St Helens Stadium in the Subway Women’s League Cup for the first time following the sudden passing of Beard last weekend.
Ahead of kick-off against Sunderland on Merseyside, a minute’s silence was observed in his memory.
Players also wore black armbands for the fixture, while supporters held applause, sung songs and displayed a banner during minutes 13 and 14 to pay tribute to his two WSL titles in charge of the Reds in 2013 and 2014.
