Watch'The Reds Roundtable': Wirtz, Frimpong and Mamardashvili discuss friendship, inspiration and patience

The Liverpool trio, who all arrived at the club last summer, recently sat down with presenter Vicky Gomersall for an in-depth discussion about the start of their Anfield careers.

Wirtz and Frimpong both joined from Bayer Leverkusen and recall the moments of realisation that they would be taking their close friendship to Merseyside.

"From the day I had the interest of Liverpool, I found out that they are also interested in Jeremie," Wirtz reveals. "We were sitting next to each other, so we were speaking almost every day how it's going and [how it would be] so cool if we go together."

Frimpong adds: "I think it's really, really nice because I don't think this happens often.

"We sit in the same place. He joined Leverkusen a few months [before] me but we were both still new. In Germany, he lived close to me as well. When I first came, I'm chilling with him. When I heard Flo had interest as well, it was top."

Mamardashvili's switch from Valencia was announced nearly a year in advance, on the back of his hugely impressive showing at Euro 2024 with Georgia.

Having become the first person from his country to represent Liverpool, the goalkeeper's debut campaign is being spent serving as deputy to Alisson Becker.

"My ex-goalkeeper coach, Jose Manuel Ochotorena, when I was in Valencia told me I had to find balance between ambition and patience," the 25-year-old says. "So, keep working hard and you never know when your chance is coming.

"It's, of course, never easy because there is just one goal! But as I said, if I don't play, I don't mind, I have to work hard every day and that's it. My time will come, for sure. Maybe not this year but my time will come."

Presented by Standard Chartered, The Reds Roundtable champions resilience, ambition and legacy, offering fans rare insights from inside the game.
